Abstract:
The most important thing that distinguishes Islamic civilization from other civilizations is that it gives great importance to the human heart and gave it a central place in its religious, legislative system, and doctrine laws. And if we think about it, we can see that Allah has already prepared our hearts in its nature to accept guidance, the righteous way, and the truth as it truly is, as well as to be pleased by it and to desire it. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Every child is born with a true faith of Islam (i.e. to worship none but Allah Alone) and his parents convert him to Judaism or Christianity or Magianism”. Piousness is one of the traits of good hearts; it guards the soul against all sins that may subject it to punishment from Allah in the hereafter. It requires obeying God’s commandments and keeping away from His prohibitions and restrictions generally in his daily life and particularly in today’s age of temptation. In this article, I will define what is Piousness (taqwa), discuss its linguistic and textual meaning, and explain what Taqwa is for Allah, in the light of the Quran and Sunnah, and how one can avoid minor and major sins because of his piousness, as well as how it relates to the deeds of good hearts; that have a significant impact on the personality of a Muslim as an individual of Islamic society.
